On 15 October 2026, a discussion forum was held to advance the legal framework governing business organizations in Kosovo. The forum brought together representatives of the business community, the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MIETI), and other public institutions that interact with business organizations.
The Director of the Kosovo Business Registration Agency emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to establishing more efficient procedures and creating a more favorable environment for private sector development. She also underlined the importance of involving the business community in the law-drafting process by encouraging stakeholders to provide concrete input and comments on the draft law once it is made available for public consultation.
The discussions focused on the challenges businesses face when registering, amending their registration details, and dissolving their operations, as well as on the procedures governing the operation of branches, representative offices, and foreign companies investing in Kosovo. Participants also addressed shortcomings and practical difficulties in implementing the current legislation, along with specific issues that should be addressed in the drafting of the new law.
Participants stressed the importance of having a clear legal framework and ensuring its consistent implementation as essential prerequisites for creating a more favorable business environment.
