On November 7, the NCEI Secretariat, in collaboration with PePeKo and the Organika Association, hosted a discussion on treatment of natural food products loses in the agricultural and trade sectors for tax purposes, bringing together representatives from public institutions and the private sector.

During the discussion, the Secretariat and participating businesses presented a comparison of regional standardized norms and a rough assessment of their potential impact on Kosovo’s economy.

The discussion focused on the following key points:

1. The measurable impact caused by the lack of standardized norms, both in financial terms and in the operational costs of businesses;

2️. The implications for the Tax Administration, particularly regarding human resource allocation;

3️. Proposals from businesses to address these challenges, based on their first-hand experience;

4️. The role of public institutions in providing support and long-term solutions.

There was broad consensus among participants that current legislation should be amended to regulate natural waste standards, similar to those applied in other countries in the region.

Public institutions present welcomed these initiatives in principle and encouraged the business community to unite in providing measurable data that would help define the appropriate norms.

The NCEI Secretariat will continue its work and analysis on this issue, aiming to support the development and adoption of standardized norms of natural waste.
